Eastern Riverina Chronicle – Round 7 – Review
CULCAIRN has soared back into finals’ calculations with an impressive 72-point mauling of Murray Magpies at Culcairn.
The Lions turned on some quality football in a superb four quarter effort, that featured a five-goal haul from Dennis Pedemont and four to Jon Robbins.
In a high-scoring encounter that produced 37 goals, Culcairn got away to a flyer with six first quarter goals and another seven in the second.
The Kiewa connection of Jye Shields, Caleb Simmons and the Hallinan boys, Dane and Tim, proved unstoppable as the Lions finished with nine goals in the final term.
Daniel Maher was again best for the Magpies closely followed by a brilliant eight goal haul from the consistent Ashley Murray.

HENTY has maintained both top spot and premiership favoritism by outclassing Rand Walbundrie Walla at Walbundrie.
In a sparkling display of polished football the Swampies started with a bang, kicking the first six goals of the match to set up the 45-point win.
With Damian Cupido, Jarrah Maksymow and Daniel Cox on fire, the Swampies kicked 10 of the 11 first-half goals.
The Giants fought back hard after half-time to boot nine goals with young ruckman Mitch Thomas, Chris and Jeremy Duck leading the recovery.
Henty did suffer a late blow when Daniel Cox left the field in the dying minutes of the game with a hamstring injury.
Daniel Smith and Harry Nunn were other good players for Henty as Cupido took his season goal tally to thirty four with five goals.

THIRD-PLACED Holbrook were given a huge scare by the winless Lockhart to eventually get over the line by 12 points at Holbrook.
In a scrappy and skill-error-marred encounter, Holbrook for the second successive match, gave up the first four goals of the game.
They were able to recover and kick eight of the final 11, with inaccuracy again proving a big problem as the gritty Demons almost cracked their first win.
Aaron Baker, Brock Knights, Sam Harris and Alec Sullivan were solid throughout for Holbrook, while Ben Talarico bobbed up with four valuable goals.
Blake Jones, Zachary Sheather, Wylie Harrington and James Creasy were best for Lockhart, who are gradually building a stronger side that should win soon.
Holbrook who are still without Matt Sharpe, Lachlan Trethowan and Nick Pugh, suffered more injuries with Jayden Beaumont and Isaac Lampe injured.

OSBORNE were given a massive scare against a defiant CDHBU at Osborne with the visitors securing a hard-fought win by 14 points.
The visitors were celebrating co coach Jeremy Stevenson’s 100th match for the club and gave the mentor plenty of effort and almost an upset win.
The Power had more scoring shots but could not quiet get over the line as they added 1-5 for the final term that got them as close as eight points.
Marty Bahr backed up a superb interleague game the week before with a best afield performance, he was well supported by Hayden Gleeson and Kodie O’Malley.
Shannon Broadbent, Kane Mills and Tim Cooper were best for CDHBU who will be hoping to back up its good form by pushing Jindera at home this week.

A STANDOUT performance from Jindera forward Trent Castles paved the way for the Bulldogs to easily beat Howlong at Jindera by 83 points.
Castles booted 10 goals to take his season tally to 41, three clear of Magpies’ Ash Murray.
Ryan Speed also backed up a good representative game by dominating.
The Bulldogs have navigated a tough draw and now have their next three games against sides at the bottom end of the table.
Howlong, with Matt Lee and Charlie Hamilton their best, tried hard but no goals in both the first and last quarters proved fatal.

BROCK Burrum Saints proved too strong for Billabong Crows winning at Burrumbuttock by 83 points to stay in second place on the ladder.
Despite missing star trio Kade Stevens, Matt Seiter and Luke Schilg the Saints superior depth and class was to the fore.
Nick Brockley kicked four goals, while Ron Boulton, Alex Wilson, Darcy IAnson and Aaron Livermore all starred for the ominous Saints.
Crows were again best served by teenage sensation George Sandral, he versatile Mark Beale and defender Angus Bourchier.
